What the map is made of
Not a decorative picture — a computed sky. This is what defines every dot on it.
Size = brightness
A star's size comes from its magnitude on an exponential scale, and stars that draw the constellations are enlarged 1.5×, so the shapes read at a glance.
Colour = spectral class
Star colours follow their real spectral type — from blue-white O stars to warm M ones. A monochrome variant is available too.
Depth of the sky
Distance in parsecs dims the far stars on a logarithmic scale, while the brightest ones — under magnitude 1.5, like Vega or Sirius — get a real glow.
Real ephemerides
Positions come from professional ephemeris data for any moment between 1900 and 2050 — you can verify the result in any planetarium app.
Your own words
A title and a dedication of your own, constellation lines and names switched on or off — the map says what you want it to say.
Six styles
From midnight gold to celestial blue: pick the one that matches the moment, the preview updates instantly.
Arrives by email
Nothing to wait for: the file lands in your inbox right after the order goes through.
Enormous resolution
A PDF file of about 11800 × 16500 px — zoom all the way in and the stars stay sharp.
Find the words for your sky
Add a caption that makes the star map personal. Here are a few ideas — or write something that's all yours.
- "Under these stars I chose you"
- "Our night — February 14, 2021"
- "On this day you came into the world"
- "The sky above the city where it all began"
- "We said 'I do' under these constellations"
- "The stars remember our first kiss"

Frequently asked questions
How accurate is the star map?+
We compute the real positions of stars and constellations by the date, time and coordinates of the chosen place — it's real astronomy, not a decorative picture.
What do I get after paying?+
A high-resolution digital star map as a PDF file, about 11800 × 16500 px, arrives in your inbox as an email attachment.
Do I need to know the exact time of the event?+
It helps, but it's not required. If the time is unknown, leave the default value — it barely affects the overall picture of the sky.
How do I receive my star map?+
Cosmoshot is a fully digital service: your star map arrives as a PDF file attached to an email, and the file is yours to keep.
How do I pick a city that isn't listed?+
Just start typing the name in the editor — the search finds almost any place in the world and fills in the coordinates.
Keep your moment among the stars
A few minutes in the editor — and you have a star map no one else has.
